I tend to have a soft spot for a strong female character. I blame (and thank) Joss Whedon and my mother for this. This is why I absolutely love the strength shown by Portal’s Chell and GLaDOS.

In a recent Tweet from Ellen McLain’s husband (she’s the eternally witty woman who’s behind the voice of GLaDOS in the Portal franchise) she’s recently headed back to Valve for more work on games. What it is, however, remains a mystery.
According to the Tweet from Mr John Lowrie, he claims that ‘Ellen is going in Tuesday for a new game and more Portal work’, referring of course to Valve, the game’s creators. This is a highly intriguing turn of events because it points to there not only being more content developed for Portal (perhaps in the form of DLC) but it also hints that Valve has plans for another game involving GLaDOS. It could be absolutely anything, but personally I’m going to hope that, at some point, GLaDOS will appear in the next iteration of the Half-Life franchise, which we haven’t heard anything about for years on end now.
Of course, I’m just speculating there, but it would be awesome to see GLaDOS in action in Half Life, wouldn’t it? Alternatively she could of course be voicing an entirely new character, but why fix what’s not broken, right Valve?
