Far Cry 3 Delayed

Far Cry 3 Delayed

Far Cry 3 is sobbing all the way into the holiday season.

Sometimes it just doesn’t seem worth announcing release dates nowadays. Practically every game under the sun gets delayed lately (Bioshock: Infinite and Tomb Raider being shelved into 2013 are just some of the latest examples) and now Far Cry 3’s release date has been officially pushed back to later this year as well.

Originally billed for a September release, Far Cry 3 has now officially been shoved back into December. This means that the new Far Cry 3 release date will in fact be December 4th in North America, with other territories still a bit of a question mark at this point.

Although Far Cry 3 had a brief showing at E3 during Microsoft’s conference, it was really shelved between extensive talks about Smart Glass, a strange woman steering wrecking balls into castles and Usher destroying our brains with his singing and dancing. I still haven’t quite recovered.

It’s a shame really, as Far Cry 3 is holding a lot of promise.  The game uses an almost Borderlands-esque co-op experience, allowing a group of crazy co-horts to explore a world map said to be ten times larger than Far Cry 2, all of which is open world. Sounds pretty nifty and could be a lot of fun, but the game is really playing second fiddle to titles like Halo 4 and The Last of Us this year.

If you have been patiently waiting for Far Cry 3 as you’re a die-hard fan of the series, I’m sure this news has disappointed you greatly. Oh well look on the bright side, it gives the developers more time to polish it all up and make it very nice before this holiday, and it also gives those of you who haven’t pre-ordered the game yet another chance to do so.

Pre-order bonuses for Far Cry 3 gain access to unique content said to add over 40 minutes of gameplay to the experience, so get that title pre-ordered if you’re a Far Cry fan!
