Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition Coming To Wii U

Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition Coming To Wii U

The Dark Knight is back, with armor.

Although it may be a game we’ve probably all played by now at least twice thanks to the New Game Plus mode, more Batman: Arkham City is always a good thing. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I had a massive obsession with this game for the longest time, and even awarded it a 10/10 in my review last year. That’s why it’s pretty exciting to see a new version of Arkham City come out for the Wii U!

Amidst a rather dull Nintendo E3 conference, Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition perked up my ears.  It’s essentially the game we all knew and loved, but with additional exclusive features that we’ll only see on Wii U.

First of all, one of the most important inclusions to the game is the new armoured suits for Catwoman and Batman, which store up kinetic energy over time. This energy can then be used to channel the new ‘B.A.T (Battle-Armoured-Tech) ‘ mode, which allows the two heroes to deal out more damage than ever before.

“Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition harnesses the power of the Wii U system and the Wii U GamePad with features that allow fans to further immerse themselves in the role of Batman like never before,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.  “WB Games Montréal evolved the incredible hit game by Rocksteady into a truly unique experience on Wii U.”

The title will also make use of the Wii U’s gamepad by using an intuitive interface. This menu system is meant to be Batman’s arm-mounted Bat-computer, and gives you access to all of your gadgets, track forensic evidence, and even line up batarang shots with extra accuracy. There’s also a whole load of other features, but these aren’t being revealed just yet.

Armoured Edition will also contain all of the DLC that’s been out for Batman: Arkham City so far, included all the challenge maps and the recently released Harley’s Revenge DLC story pack.

“WB Games Montréal is very excited to unveil the all new Wii U features we’ve created in Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition,” said Reid Schneider, Vice President and Executive Producer, WB Games Montréal.  “The new controller allows for a different twist on the Batman: Arkham City game, as players now have the power of the Batcomputer and gadgets in the palm of their hands.”

Batman: Arkham City is due for a holiday 2012 release, and will probably be one of the Wii U’s launch titles. Unfortunately the Wii U itself doesn’t have a launch date yet, but we’ll keep you updated if we get one.
