Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD Soundtrack Revealed

This game would be nothing without a solid set of tracks to rock your ears off.

In a recent interview with Sound and Vision, Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD developer Robomodo revealed the 14 tracks that have been confirmed for the game. I recently expressed my desire for the game to include the one song that is considered by many to be the only song that matters. In fact, I doubt I would have even considered playing this game had that song not found its way into the final track list. Thankfully, Robomodo has listened to the demands of the fans and included the franchise staple by Goldfinger, Superman.

Narrowing the track list down to a mere16 songs was no easy task, but the developers managed to finalize a list that is a fairly even spread of songs from the first and second titles along with a smattering of songs entirely new to the franchise.

One would think the the process would simply consist of choosing popular songs and slapping them in, but the soundtrack is by far the most important aspect of any Tony Hawk title. Project Manager Ken Overbey shed some light on the process.

It was a little difficult. We definitely wanted to bring back some of the songs from the original soundtrack, but wanted new songs as well. The most difficulty we had was our budget, which was very small, and the scope and time frame; it was a lot of work to get it all lined up and get the songs in. You have to put out a risk analysis report and you have to point out to the publisher what the biggest risks are in the development. Soundtrack, Patrick and I both agreed, was the number one. Anyone who knows the game knows the music is just as important as the gameplay.

The Tony Hawk Series has always been about bringing up and coming artists to light, but that tends to be the opposite of what so many people expect. It’s far more popular to just select at random from the current Top 40 list or cater to the current hottest genre of music. Just look at how many trailers and games have been incorporating dubstep lately. Thankfully, THPS HD is sticking to the series’ roots. Here is the full track list as confirmed by Robomodo.
