DSi Drops to $99 This Month

It’s okay. The DS has been out for 8 years now. I think it’s safe to say it has some good titles.

If you still don’t own a DS you’ve either shown the world that you can control your impulses like none other and resist the urge to buy one of the most incredible and successful handheld systems of all time or you hate great video game systems.

I understand price is an issue for a lot of people, but come May 20th the DSi, along with it’s more well-endowed older sibiling the DSi XL, will fall dangerously close to the impulse purchase zone, coming in at $99 and $129.99 respectively.

The current price on the DSi is $149.99, making it a mere $20 short of the new 3DS, so naturally people are a bit more hesitant to opt for the older system. But Nintendo’s official statement on the matter states that “the new suggested retail prices provide an even greater incentive to pick up the systems, and provide and easy option for parents who want to introduce younger kids to their first portable games. With graduation looming, Father’s Day approaching and the start of the summer travel season imminent, the new suggested retail prices appeal to all kinds of shoppers.”

Go ahead, indulge yourself in a little treat this month. With a library of more than 2,000 games, there really has never been a better time to play catch up with those old DS titles you’ve been jonesing to play.
