Diablo III Becomes the Fastest Selling PC Game Ever

And that’s not even counting the people who got it with their World of Warcraft Annual Pass!

Even after a launch that has been described as “buckets” (thanks to Eric Pederson for that one) Diablo III has still managed to handily become the fastest selling PC game of all time. Server issues, auction house troubles and countless Error 37s didn’t stop 3.5 million people from buying the game on launch day. And while 3.5 million is more than enough sales to hand them the #1 of all time spot, an additional 1.2 million copies of the game were in the hands of those who purchased the World of Warcraft annual pass.

4.7 million people were attempting to play Diablo 3 on launch night, which might help to explain all the server problems they were experiencing. While the login errors and other issues apparently had almost no effect on sales it has landed Diablo III an extremely low user meta-critic score, currently sitting at 4.1 but, when some 4 million people are upset they can’t play your game, that’s hardly suprising.
