Starhawk Has a Story and Here’s the Trailer to Prove It

If you thought I was excited before…

A lot of people may have been turned off by the prospect of an online only game with Warhawk and thus took a pass on the series. That mindset seems to have carried over a bit into Starhawk as plenty of people I talk to mention the main reason for their passing on Stawhawk was due to the lack of a single player campaign. Well, throw that argument away because Starhawk does in fact have single player, and no, it isn’t just a romp around an arena with some bots in a feeble attempt to train you for the onslaught of online multiplayer.

There is a real, story driven campaign beneath everything and if the trailer is any indication, it’s going to be amazing. Call me a sucker for sci-fi or anything Warhawk/Starhawk, but I haven’t been this excited about a sci-fi game since Red Faction Guerilla.

If you didn’t pick up on the intricacies of the story, I’ll give it to you in this microscopic nutshell. War between the Rifters and the Outcast is raging all across he Frontier and all of humanity is gunning for control of the coveted “blue-gold”. I suppose it could be compared to the current conflicts in the Middle East over oil if you are looking for something more tangible to relate to.

The game’s entire Build & Battle mechanic has been implemented within the single player campaign as well, so you can be sure that the single player will in some way prepare you for online play.

Starhawk is set to release on May 8th, 2012.
