Gears of War: Exile Cancelled

Gears of War: Exile Cancelled

The Kinect game that never officially was is officially gone.

Sometime last year, it was rumoured that Epic Games (the people behind Gears of War) were working on a new Kinect game based in the Gears universe. We didn’t know a whole lot about it except that Epic had trademarked Gears of War: Exile, but many rumours certainly pointed to an on-rails experience that would use Microsoft’s then relatively new Kinect technology.

Since the initial speculation about Exile we’ve been left to wonder whether it would ever show up, especially since E3 last year came and went without so much as a little mention about the game. I have to admit I was kinda intrigued about whether it would actually have been any good or not, but now my hopes have been dashed by Cliffy B himself who has told GameStop that the game is officially cancelled.

“”Let’s just bury the hatchet now,” he said. “Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can’t give any details about that has since been cancelled.”

So there you have it. Looks like for now you’ll just have to play Gears of War 3 to get your chainsaw-gun fix.  It would of been pretty sweet to pretend you were slicing people into bits with a motion controlled Lancer though…
