Welcome to the first entry of ManaTank’s official weekly news wrap up, brought to you this week from the dancing fingers of UK Editor Dan Curtis.
There’s been plenty to lap up this week in the world of gaming and the world of ManaTank itself. The most important news in our eyes was of course the big site redesign; a lot of you have been lapping up the new site achievements, making groups, taking part in discussions and generally exploring all the new features but if you’re yet to join the party, there’s never been a better time to join up and experience everything the new improved ManaTank has to offer. All you need to know about the new changes at ManaTank can be found right here.
This Week’s Big News
This week’s big announcement was all about Assassin’s Creed 3, as Ubisoft finally flung down the gates and revealed that the latest instalment in the long-running free-running franchise was to be set during the American Revolution.
Judging from early reactions on the comments, a lot of you are divided about the franchise’s future. It’s understandable – I’d honestly say that the games were rapidly in danger of suffering from repetitive syndrome and after Revelations felt more like an expansion pack than a sequel, it turned off a lot of people. You can however take solace in the fact that Assassin’s Creed 3 has been in development for 3 years ever since Assassin’s Creed 2 came out, giving hope for lots of new features and an exciting new chapter in the series.
Plenty of news has been flying around about Mass Effect this week ranging from flying space balloons to the shocking announcement that the UK’s biggest gaming retailer will in fact not be stocking Bioware’s epic, due to credit issues.
It’s sad news for the UK, particularly those who’ve pre-ordered it already through a GAME or GameStation store.
Mass Effect 3 also made headlines this week with the incredible launch trailer which makes the wait for the game all the more unbearable. Seriously, don’t watch it, as you’ll get excited. Unless you’re resident ManaTanker Eric Pederson, who has no love whatsoever for Mass Effect. Silly boy.
Intriguing rumours began circulating this week about Valve. The Steam creator is perhaps planning to enter the hardware race, with rumours of Valve wanting to create hardware to go with its highly popular digital distribution service starting to churn.
