EA Suggests UK GAME Shoppers Head Elsewhere to Buy Mass Effect 3

Publishing giants Electronic Arts have described the UK retailer’s credit insurance issues as “unfortunate”, but are advising shoppers to seek other ways to get their hands on Bioware’s sci-fi epic and other upcoming titles.

GAME Group has been experiencing ongoing financial difficulties that have prevented big name releases such as Mass Effect 3 and other EA titles from being stocked on the shelves of GAME and Gamestation stores. Despite GAME describing this as a “temporary” issue that they are working with suppliers to resolve, EA have updated their website alerting gamers on other ways to buy upcoming games.

“It’s unfortunate that GAME is having challenges with its suppliers, however consumers have many alternatives both in-store and online”, the update reads.  “Our first priority is to inform our consumers of the many other retailers carrying our games. We don’t anticipate any delay in getting our titles to market.”

The update then provides a comprehensive list of outlets that will be stocking Mass Effect 3, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13, Fifa Street and The Sims 3: Showtime. If you are looking to pick up the Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition, options suggested include Blockbuster, Gamestop and all purpose supermarket Sainsbury’s.

Surely it’s bad news for GAME and Gamestation when customers have a greater chance at buying one of the year’s most anticipated titles during their weekly shop for toilet paper and Brussels sprouts than at one of their specialist gaming stores?

Mass Effect 3 will be available in the UK from March 9th.
