Bioshock Infinite Gets an October Release Date

After almost a solid year of teasing, Bioshock Infinite finally has a release date.

It’s no secret that I like Bioshock. I mean really, really, REALLY like it. Even the bad ones (Bioshock 2) have a special place in my heart and the announcement that Irrational Games’s Bioshock Infinite is due to release October 16, 2012 for North America and October 19, 2012 everywhere else has me absolutely chuffed to beans.

One of the many reasons I love Bioshock so much is that the sunken city of Rapture serves as far more than a mere environment. With its dripping corridors and dilapidated ruins, Rapture almost become a character; one that can change from a manna laden haven to a water-filled deathtrap in the blink of an eye. With Bioshock Infinite taking players to the airborne city of Columbia I can’t help but feel a few pangs of remorse for my long lost friend, Rapture.

Columbia promises to bring with it an entirely new set of challenges and set pieces though, and I couldn’t be more excited.
