Jet Set Radio HD Coming To Xbox Live and PSN

Sega today announced that Jet Set Radio, the classic wall-tagging/in-line skating game, will be making a welcome return as a digital download on Xbox Live, PSN and PC.

The game was originally release for the Sega Dreamcast way back in the year 2000, and has over the years maintained somewhat of a cult following.

“Every time we look at our favourite SEGA classics, the fans never fail to ask about Jet Set Radio,” said Haruki Satomi, Senior Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA of America. “The game was unlike anything else when it first came out, and was one of the first games in history to use cel-shading. More importantly, Jet Set Radio is a game that celebrates self-expression, and we’re looking forward to seeing how gamers and artists come together to leave their mark on Tokyo-to.”

The game itself takes place in Tokyo-To, where you’re part of a street gang known as the GG’s. Each GG member is equipped with the latest in magnetically driven inline skates and has made it their mission in life to combat corrupt powers that control Tokyo-To by tagging the city with graffiti.

Sega is also planning to host a contest that will allow you to get your own graffiti art into the game. There’s 18 places up for grabs and the winner apparently gets a new Rukus (a bluetooth sound system) as well as your art inside the game. For more info on the contest, click here.

The release date for the title is not yet concrete, but it is expected sometime in Summer 2012.

In the meantime here’s a few images to slate your thirst for JSR HD.
