Call of Duty 2012 Confirmed By Activision

In a shocking revelation that came totally out of the blue, Activision has confirmed there will be a new Call of Duty game this year. Ok, maybe that was a tad predictable.

As usual,we can more than likely expect the title for a holiday release. Activision is still remaining tight-lipped about what the game will be, but rumours are flying that the game will be in fact Black Ops 2, the sequel (or a prequel) to 2010’s Black Ops. It’s definitely the least popular part of the series compared to Modern Warfare, but it’s not MW’s turn this year.

There’s been a few rumblings already about the presence of Black Ops 2, including job listings and even a registered website name.  The fact that a new Call of Duty this year is coming should be of no shock to anyone; Modern Warfare 3 last year has sold over a billion dollars worth of content, making it still the most lucrative franchise on the planet.

Activision is also promising innovation with this new Call of Duty.Eric Hirshberg publishing chief at Activision said: “This year, we expect to further expand our presence with the launch of an all-new epic first person shooter title under the Call of Duty brand.”

“From what we’ve seen the game already looks fantastic and will bring meaningful innovation to the franchise. I could not be more excited,” he added.

He also promises to keep their foot firmly on the gas with Call of Duty Elite 2.0 which will presumably accompany the game. “We’re already hard at work on Elite 2.0 with several innovative features being developed to work hand in hand with our next Call Of Duty release.” he said.
