Starhawk Public Beta Launches Today With Release Date in Tow

Starhawk, the spiritual succesor to one of the PS3’s first online shooters, is expected to release this year and after many months of anticipation, the beta has finally gone public.

Starting today, January 17th, the online beta for Starhawk is available… for PlayStation Plus members. I know, curse those people who actually paid for the service and their getting of perks! How dare they!

Worry not, though, as the beta will not remain exclusive for long. On January 31st, it will open its doors a bit wider and invite in those who bought special copies of Uncharted 3: Darke’s Deception. Inside, users will find a code which will grant them access to the beta alongside the multitude of others already taken to the skies.

Finally, on February 21st, every single PlayStation Network user will be set loose on the beta and encouraged to tell Lightbox and Sony Santa Monica just exactly what they think of the game.

To sweeten the pot, the game has been given an official release date of May 8th. There has been no official word on just how long the beta will last, but you can bet your last inverse tachyon beam that it will run for as long as possible, so don’t waste any time. It’s not often you get to play a game well before it comes out.
