You Will Use Origin For Mass Effect 3!

If you’re a PC gamer, are itching to get your paws on Mass Effect 3 and have been avoiding EA’s Origin service, you’re probably not going to be pleased.

PC gamers are going to be essentially forced into using EA’s Origin service in order to play Mass Effect 3, as Bioware’s  Chris Priestly took to the Bioware forums to answer commonly asked questions about the game, revealing that both physical and digital copies of Mass Effect 3 will need EA’s Origin service in order to be played.

One of the questions is as follows:

2) Is constant Origin connection required or is it a single one off authentication when the game is first installed. Is there also a limit to the number of installations available?

Mass Effect 3 will require a one time, single authorization for the single player game. There is no limit to the number of installs. Playing Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer will require a constant connection.

The forum post also confirms that the digital release, at this time, will not be available on Valve’s popular online distribution platform, Steam. This essentially means that all Mass Effect PC’ers must use EA’s Origin in order to play; without it, you’re going to be Mass Effectless until you finally give into the great EA god of Origin.

Commander Shepard gave his two cents on the move, and said, quite stoically and with blank eyes: “I’m Commander Shepard, and Ea’s Origin Is My Favourite Digital Distribution Service on the Citadel.”
