Are You Surprised? Hot Shots Golf Tops Vita Charts

C’mon, it’s Hot Shots… and it’s in Japan. That right there is a recipe for instant success. But Hot Shots didn’t just top the charts, it absolutely crushed the competition.

The Vita was fortunate enough to launch with something far too many systems seem to forget about: a healthy selection of titles. Nobody cares about off-handed third party content simply meant as a tide me over until the developers get around actually pushing out a quality first party title. No, what people want is a solid couple of games worthy of buying with the system and the Vita had just that.

Clocking in at 61,412 units sold, Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational managed to usurp Nathan Drake in his latest globe trotting murder fest Uncharted: Golden Abyss by a margin of nearly 14,000 units.

Riding high on the list of hot titles behind Hot Shots and Uncharted was Dynasty Warriors Next – they really put the think tank together on that title, eh? – Lord of Apocalypse, Disgaea 3 Return, Ridge Racer, and Katamari Damacy Novita.

Predictable? Yes. Promising for the future of the Vita? Not really. Hot Shots did wonders when the PSP launched and look what happened there. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go hold my breath.
