Modern Warfare 3 New Game Modes Available Today

Modern Warfare 3 New Game Modes Available Today

The time is nigh COD’ers. New game modes are coming today (Friday 16th December), with Infinity Ward promising a slew of new multiplayer options for Modern Warfare 3.

The update was announced by Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling via Twitter, who yesterday teased that an announcement of sorts was coming regarding a new update for the MW3 multiplayer suite.

Today he instead formally announced that the new update will be going live today and it is promising some updates to game modes, as well as adding a few new ones to the established formula, thus freshening up the types of gameplay available to the many, many people who play the Call of Duty online experience.

The major change in the update is apparently the fact that Community Playlists have been added. A brand new mode for the multiplayer, this will allow popular and unique private match modes to be made available to the public, allowing gamers to take their custom-made playlists online and earn experience from them. This means that there’ll be significantly more variation in the game modes you can play, as well as allow you to get creative and change up the multiplayer experience in new and interesting ways. Not a half bad addition, if I do say so myself.

In addition, the following game modes are appearing (some are just tweaked versions of older modes):

Drop Zone

Teams are challenged with holding the ‘Drop Zone’ with the first band of soldiers to reach 7500 points winning the round. Sounds just like Domination right? Wrong – in this variation of the mode, every fifteen seconds care packages will drop from the sky, with every team member in the drop zone ‘owning’ that care package, but anyone can steal it. All other pointstreaks go bye byes in this mode as the care package is the only way to gain valuable air support. Kills are worth 50 XP, while you gain 20 points per team member for every second they’re in the drop zone plus 20 XP individually.

Hardcore HQ Ricochet

They’re also going to be adding Hardcore Headquarters to the Hardcore Team Tactical playlist.

Hardcore Ricochet

Ricochet is a new approach to friendly fire. After receiving loads of people moaning about team killing and friendly fire in Hardcore match variants, Infinity Ward has now decided that if you shoot a team mate, you’ll instead feel the damage yourself. Think of your bullets like boomerangs.

These new modes enough to keep you ticking over until the massive amount of DLC for COD MW3 comes out? Let us know what you think of these changes in the comments.
