RAAM’s Shadow Cast Over Gears of War 3

RAAM’s Shadow Cast Over Gears of War 3

RAAM’s back.  He’s ugly, and annoyed. He’s also casting his shadow over a new group of burly heroes and its up to you to put a stop to him in Epic’s second Gears 3 DLC pack.

Entitled RAAM’s shadow, the first exclusive, story-driven DLC pack for Gears of War 3 is set before the events of the first Gears of War, exploring an as yet untold story arc. Gamespot is claiming that it is to be the ‘biggest piece of DLC Epic has ever made’ and you will find yourself battling the Locust Horde as Zeta Squad, which is composed of a few slightly familiar faces.

Gears of War fanatics will easily recognise Lt. Minh Young Kim from Gears 1, while Tai Kaliso from Gears 2 also pops up once again. In addition there’s also Michael Barrick, who has appeared in the Gears of War comic adaptions. Since Barrick is the squad leader, I imagine you’ll probably be playing as him for the majority of the game.  The DLC itself follows the efforts of Zeta Squad as they try to evacuate from the Kryll infested city of Ilima, more than likely encountering the imposing form of General RAAM once more along the way.

In addition to the new DLC campaign, the pack is also offering the option to actually play as General RAAM in some capacity or another (probably in multiplayer), 250 points worth of achievements and also includes six new multiplayer characters and a mysterious weapon set entitled ‘Chocolate Weapons’. Sounds tasty, if you ask me.

The new DLC pack will hit retail this December, on the 13th. It will retail for a cost of 1200 MS points and will be the second downloadable pack for Gears 3 after the release of the Horde Command Pack on November 1st. Gears 3 actually has four planned DLC outages, and you can buy a season pass on Xbox Live right now for 2400 MS Points ($30) in order to make a saving when they all come out.

ManaTank’s very own Matt Eades reviewed Gears 3 for us earlier this month, so be sure to check it out.
