Something New! ManaTank Comments and Profile Overhaul

We here at ManaTank have been pouring over countless ways to increase the already stellar community we have at the site and have decided to include a whole slew of new features for you to explore and customize to your hearts content.

What’s gone?

The only thing that is completely gone is the old comment system and the comment process. That has all been revamped and replaced with a shiny new feature called Disqus.

What is Disqus?

Disqus is an extensive system that allows users to create, customize, and link their ManaTank profiles to a myriad of other social media outlets all while interacting with each other onsite.

Cool. So how does it work?

At the bottom of any article where the comments used to be you will find a fancy new layout with quite a few new options. Directly below the authors name is the infamous ‘Like’ and ‘Thumbs down’ buttons. Be frank, be honest, be fair! If you don’t like the article, let us know and then sound off in the comments below!

But before you get ‘like-happy’ you need to decide how you want to log in. We suggest creating a Disqus profile as you will then be able to take full advantage of all the features we have included such as friend tracking, popular lists, personal profiles, and a twitter style follow system. To set this up click on the Disqus button below ‘Optional: Login below’. The setup is painless, I promise, and it only takes a few minutes.

Once done, you can link your Discuss profile to any number of social media sites including facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo!, OpenID, Tumblr, WordPress, etc. Sifting through the options menu will give the option to edit your profile, and decide which image you would like to use as your avatar. Got a sweet pic you made in photoshop that expresses exactly who you are? Or do you prefer that infamous facebook profile pic you’ve been dying to share with the world? You make the call!

If you decide to forgo the Disqus profile, you can always just sign in using your Facebook or Twitter account and stay up to date with all things ManaTank from the comfort of your previously established profile.

Once you are nicely setup and feeling comfortable, it’s time to start getting connected! Leave comments at will (the more you comment, the cooler you are) and start following other users. To find other people on ManaTank, click the ‘Expand Community Box’ to the right of the Like buttons. This will take you to an overview of the newest members, most active members, and most liked members. We already foresee loads of people attempting to elbow their way to the top of these lists and do whatever it takes to remain there. Who knows, there may be a prize in the end! (Of a given time period… not ManaTank, because that’ll never happen.)

If you see someone you like and want to follow them, click on their name to be taken to their user profile. From there you can see their profile, recent activity including comments, and how many likes they’ve received. If that person tickles your fancy, hit the big green +Follow button to keep tabs on this person!

Finally, something that everyone has been dying for us to integrate: pictures. From here on out you, the people of ManaTank, will be allowed to post images in your comments. We only ask a couple things in return:

  1. Keep them appropriate
  2. Keep them awesome

One final note, all of your previous are in fact not gone. They are simple in a state of virtual limbo as they are currently being transferred from the old system to the new one. They should magically appear at any moment.

We hope you like the new changes because we certainly do! Enjoy!
