Skyrim On Wii U?

While we know not a whole lot about Nintendo’s Wii U aside from what the controller looks like, Bethesda has recently stated that it could be possible to bring The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to the console sometime in the future.

Speaking to the Official Nintendo Magazine, Bethesda’s VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines stated that it could be a ‘possibility’ for Skyrim to eventually reach Nintendo’s new platform. He did, however, express that this is in no way concrete, instead he talked about the challenge of bringing the game to a brand new console and how it would be a huge undertaking to do so.

It would certainly mark a change of direction for Nintendo, who’s promised better third-party support for the Wii U and, with a company like Bethesda potentially on board the Wii U could well be a new platform for many third party publishers to push their content on. Since Skyrim is one of the most hotly anticipated games of this year it seems a no brainer that the big N would want it on their console – I imagine those of you who only own Nintendo consoles probably wouldn’t mind seeing it on the new platform as well.

Of course this is entirely speculative – we don’t know what Bethesda is planning for the Wii U, and they could well be working hard on a Wii U port of Skyrim right now and not telling us about it. Or alternatively they’re not doing anything at all and are only in the planning stages. I personally hope it’s the former – while Nintendo has had great success with the Wii, it cannot be denied that this year has had a lackluster amount of titles for the platform. I hope with the Wii U Nintendo revitalises their content and keeps giving gamers a reason to own their console.

But what do you think, ManaTank folk? Would you like to see Skyrim on the Wii U? Tell us whether you do, or not, in the comments. Also be sure to check out my fellow writer’s and ManaTank overlord Eric Pederson’s completely ridiculously lengthy preview of Skyrim which tells you practically everything you could ever need to know about the game. That’s not an exaggeration.
