Playstation Network Going Down Again…But Don’t Panic.

Playstation Network Going Down Again…But Don’t Panic.

The PS Network outage earlier this year was possibly the hardest time in existence for the discerning Playstation 3 owner. So much so that whenever it goes down again, everyone starts to panic a bit.

Don’t worry though, Sony’s latest decision to take the Network down later this evening is for maintenance purposes (there’s no hacking involved this time, thankfully). Beginning from 5 to 6 UK time, the update to the PSN means that you won’t be able to access any of the online components usually available for at least an hour, with Sony stating that it may even take longer for the essential maintenance to be completed. They say this is for “testing purposes”.

Cryptically, Sony also said that you should be able to stay signed in if you were signed in before the updating begins. Whether this means you can actually do anything if you do stay signed in remains a mystery, but I imagine most of the services will remain unavailable during that time.

So what does this mean for you? Well, it means you’re going to lose an hour and a bit of online game time. Consider yourself lucky it isn’t a month’s worth.
