Gassy in the Windy City: Fighter X Shooter Round One!

Who says video games aren’t a sport? Focus-Fire and Gaming Generations are out to give you the opportunity to jump in the ring with other gamers and vie for a chance to win some great prices, meet some new friends, oh.. and meet some of the ManaTank crew.

Our very own Gassy Mexican is invading the tournament this weekend, which kicks off tonight in Chicago, IL. Although tonight is the official start of FxS, no official tournament games will start until tomorrow. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t any fun to be had. Tonight will feature a host of casual gaming where players can hop on the myriad of available games and face off for bragging rights against other competitors and just generally hone their skills for the main events this weekend.

If you happened to miss our giant write up about the event you can check it out here.

However, just to give you a bit of a recap. The event runs from Sept. 2nd through Sept. 4th and will features tournaments in a wide variety of games including:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • Halo Reach
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 3
  • Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition
  • Mortal Kombat 9
  • Third Strike Online
  • Madden 12.

Aside from simple gaming, door prizes, giveaways, staff prizes, and a whole menagerie of raffles will be available for you to win.

  • $10 entrance fee per tournament game entry ($40 for shooter teams).
  • $10 venue fee per sports player.
  • $30 venue fee per fighter player.
  • $60 venue fee per shooter team.
  • $10 spectator/casual pass.

Finally, the one, the only, Gassy Mexican is going to be there partaking in the festivities and lending his voice to some of the live stream videos as a guest commentator. Those streams will be featured on the Focus-Fire website and will be hosted on Justin.Tv.

So if you happen to find yourself in the Windy City this weekend with nary a thing to do, head over to the Fighters X Shooters event and throw down.
