Majora’s Mask Coming to 3DS?

Majora’s Mask is not often mentioned when stacked against the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but it remains still one of the better titles to grace the N64. If you agree with that statement, now is the time to let your voice be heard as Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has said that a remake of Majora’s Mask could be possibly on the cards, but only if there’s enough fan support to justify it.

Speaking to Nintendo Power, Eiji elaborated on how he’d consider bringing Majora’s Mask to the 3DS, as he feels a lot of fans would love the handheld support for the classic game.

One of the big things that we made this remake possible was that there was an outpour of emotions from people who said they would like to see this game done, he said, referring to the recent 3DS remake of Ocarina of Time. I think certainly if there was a similar output of emotion and clamor from fans for a remake of Majora’s Mask, it wouldn’t be an utter impossibility.

Thinking on it now, having a handheld Majora’s Mask where you could kind of just set things down on your own time – close it, set it aside and come back to it later – might be a game play element some fans will actually take to and might really appreciate.

Majora’s Mask is an incredibly darker game than Ocarina, dealing with the ever-present threat of death by a seriously scary-looking moon that threatens to crash down and eradicate everything in existence. Its a crying shame that it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves as, in many ways, it builds upon the foundations already laid down in Ocarina and then expands on them.

So if you want Majora’s Mask, sound off all over the net that you want it, right now, in shiny 3D.
