Batman: Arkham Justice League?
According to a report, Rocksteady’s new game will be steering Batman in a brand new direction.
Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. (the game’s publisher) and Rocksteady are hard at work creating their next Batman game, and it’s one that comes as a bit of a surprise. Instead of continuing the narrative established in Batman Arkham Asylum/City, the next game is apparently reportedly a prequel and will deal with Batman’s first encounter with the Joker.
While the game is apparently in the stages of development, it’s more than likely it won’t see the light of day until at least 2014, meaning we could well see the next Batman game running on the next generation of videogame consoles.
It’s all apparently part of a new grand strategy to prepare the world for the upcoming Justice League movie, in which Batman features pretty heavily.
Speaking as a massive fan of Rocksteady’s Arkham franchise, I have faith in them to deliver a great Justice League game, but I’m really scared to let go of the closely interwoven narrative and settings they established in the first two titles. I’ll have to wait and see exactly what the game looks like before making any snap judgements, but my curiosity is merely piqued for the moment.
