The Last Of Us Release Date Will Be In 2013
The Last of Us’ release date slips back after the end of the world.
If you were looking forward to playing upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller The Last of Us in 2012, be prepared to be disappointed.
Talking on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Naughty Dog confirmed that the game will not be shipping this year while they showed off a slightly shorter version of the epic gameplay footage shown at this year’s E3.
Exploring Post-Apocalyptic Pittsburgh
Since Naughty Dog prepared to let actions (or gameplay footage) do the talking at this year’s E3, it’s always interesting to hear new details about the world of The Last of Us.
During their chat with Jimmy Fallon the game’s creative director and director outlined that the area seen in the E3 demo is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and that for the past twenty years the world has been ravaged by an epidemic, forcing those who survived into killing each other for supplies.
Other than that the brief gameplay demo isn’t really big on new details, but it does show the same brutal violence, gritty realism and fight-for-survival mentality that seems to be woven into the very fabric of The Last of Us.
I have to admit I’m a little bit sad at the news. I was kind of hoping for a Naughty Dog filled Christmas this year, but if this gives them the time to refine the game and make it as brilliant as possible, then the fact that The Last of Us’ release date has slipped to 2013 doesn’t bother me all that much.
