Resident Evil 6 Gets a New Trailer and Release Date

If you’re anything like me, the whole Resident Evil story line is just one big tangled mess at this point.
A new video dubbed the “captivate trailer” launched today, revealing a good chunk of info about the upcoming zombie giraffe porn simulator known as Resident Evil 6. Although true gameplay footage is still quite sparse, you can take solace knowing that this is one game that will not suffer from any release date delays. In fact, RE6, originally due out in November, has been given a new release date of October 2, 2012.
As a long time fan of the series, I want to know one thing from all of you. Is Resident Evil a dead series? Or do you think 6 has the potential to revive the original horror that made the original titles so good?

From the looks of the trailer, i doubt it’ll ‘revive’ any sort of horror, but what id like to see is capcom either rebooting the series and bringing it back to the horror roots (unlikely, given the action setting and story line that its currently enjoying now) or doing a quasi-spin-off set in the same [vast] world that would allow for a different type of game, ie survival horror.
From the looks of the trailer, though, 6 is looking rather tasty (said the lady to the giraffe)
