Journey Creator Thanks Fans For Record Breaking Sales
Jenova Chen has described Journey’s success as “overwhelming”.
Thatgamecompany, the developer of critically acclaimed indie titles Flow and Flower, have recently broken sales records with their latest game Journey. The game has become the fastest selling Playstation Network title ever in both North America and Europe.
Jenova Chen, the co-founder of Thatgamecompany, has posted on the Playstation Blog thanking the people that bought the game for their support.
“We see the personal connection between our work and the players, which is the most real and priceless reward for us”, the post reads. “For that, we thank you so much for your support, for spending time and money to play our game, and for spreading the word about Journey to your dear friends and family.”
It’s good news for fans of the soundtrack, too. Chen goes on to write that “we’ve received a lot of requests to release the soundtrack of the game. Well, I’m happy to announce that the soundtrack will be hitting the PS Store and iTunes on April 11, and there will be a limited CD release in the near future as well.”
I know we have a few Journey fans here at the Manatank, and the game has been one of the most critically acclaimed titles of the year so far. Flower is also one of five key games on display at a new Smisthonian American Art Museum exhibition, so if you hear champagne glasses clinking over at Thatgamecompany’s headquarters, you will know why.
